The Woes Of Needy Lovers

A threshold's always looming

That shifting balance of power

What starts off in life as love

Brings me to bend and cower

Its the woes of needy lovers

A world of yearning and pain

Wondering will she like me,

When shall I see her again?

I start off so firm and resolute

Dont repeat mistakes of old

This time it will be different

She'll do just as she is told

At first I'm all easy charm

Keeping passion reined in

Dont look deep in her eye

Spontaneity a cardinal sin

The tide runs in her favour

Awed by her demeanour

I feared this would happen

The minute that I seen her

Lost in space and all at sea

She hijacks my sense of self

In control, pulls the strings of

A toy on her bedroom shelf

Bitten again, never twice shy

I need her now more than ever

She has my heart over a barrel

A passion only she can sever

When will I learn my lesson?

Am I a sucker for punishment?

Perhaps I'm a sado-masochist,

Is that where self-respect went?
