Darkness and Light
Darkness and Light
The sun is low in the sky
as scanty clouds scud swiftly by
Most of the leaves have now gone
for in most places there are absolutely none
a gust of blustery wind presses against my face
as I bend forward into the wind apace
Leaves of autumnal splendour are everywhere
we choose carefully what clothes we decide to wear
Dawn arrives unannounced in a mood so tame
it departs discourteously as an extinguished flame
For the most part we dwell in a gloomy place
with no luggage not even an overnight case
Scarves and masks shield our faces from the cold
all are the signs of growing weary and old
Glad to be indoors yet frustrated within
a joy it would be to break forth and make a din
The dark, the cold and endless gloom
are there to help us in our little room
When the light of dawn does resurrect
we come together and stand erect
Darkness points us to the light
to compare and see a different sight
One cannot do without the other
as one is a sister of the other brother

A contradictory write. The way your poem progresses from gloom to hope shows the strength of a fighter. That's the spirit keith, keep going on buddy. You'll be victorious rather you already are?
