HOME OF THE FREE, LAND OF THE BRAVE

entry picture

The tune is Leadbelly's "Bourgeois Blues".  I am to blame for the lyrics. Trump is to blame for the rest.

I’ve always had a mind to visit Nashville Tennessee

But never would you catch me near to Washington, DC.

It’s a Traitor’s town

Ooooh a Traitor’s town

Those redneck traitors they wanna bring their Congress down

Home of the Free, Land of the Brave

Those Dixie boys were flying flags from days that they had slaves.

It’s a Traitor’s town

Home of the brave, land of the free

Those Proud Boys with their weapons have usurped democracy

It’s a Traitor’s town

Home of the Free, Land of the Brave

I hear no hint of honour he just tells them what they crave

It’s a Traitor’s town

Home of the brave, land of the free

Don’t he know he leaves behind this sordid legacy

It’s a Traitor’s town

Home of the Free, Land of the Brave

If he had a conscience he’d take guilt into his grave

It’s a Traitor’s town

Home of the brave, land of the free
Everybody's got it in for me
(Except for Mike Pence,
Oh God, now he has too)
What the hell am I gonna do?

That’s right, Trevor. Bob Dylan references him in his early composition, “Song to Woody”.

Leadbelly was a friend of Woody Guthries who, for those who give a shit, chronicled the beauty of America - This Land Is Your Land / Pastures of Plenty etc. while fighting for the common man. Emblazoned on his guitar were the words - 'This Machine Kills Fascists'. 'Nuff said
Right on brother John!
