The Edge of Realism // for Michal Mraz
INTRO
Rags to empty floating Tesco bags
with a vernissage for hobos at large
in this modern gallery
by Balkan Banksy.
Slovakia to SoHo
criminal with a canister
the cloaked van Gogh
Picasso-meets-gangster.
1st SCENE
under-bridge walls covered in paintings
stenciled & sprayed
turning the homeless pass into paradise lost.
fine art pierces the dartboard
on skateboards with street talk
lasers and lenses point the way
and beauty is in the bullseye
of the paintbrush holder.
blue collar tongues roll out of their homes
jumping onto pages
everyday phrases
order of the day.
the frame spills
extending beyond paint
and lines of color-by-number
growing legs
striding elegant
vicious
determined
filling the streets
with signatures and messages
from the belly of the beast.
born in a rotting squat
where cigarette hole'd furniture creaks
and cold-water pipes shriek
disdain is stirred
and disgust erupts.
spreading from highway
to underpass
holding a torch to the grey
smeared across the chain city of death.
blinkers blind the walking-stick army
sleepwalking backwards
in a moonwalk to cucumber sarmies.
2nd SCENE
!! a salon patron complains
the walls looks filthy
& strange.
!!! maccy d's three times a day
the rooster crows
'time for change'
leaping from springboard to canvas
or concrete sidewalk
listen with your eyes to the vandalism
sprayed with realism
for the pretty pictures talk.
