the poison pen letter it protects

knows to hurl the vitriol

where it lands best,

where caveats are ignored,

paralysis cajoled. 

 

The recipient shall hardly flinch

at the abuse, won't dare 

regard it as libel or slander,

for, after all, when has ink

on paper spilled ever blazed

more alive, more convincing?
