As You Leave

An aircraft’s undercarriage leaves the runway,
The sound of turbines fade,
As a cloudy night sky engulfs the shimmering jet.
Memories pass eyes in the cold air,
A pint of beer stands by a vacant spot at the bar.
Re-live the moments important to oneself,
Moments that make up part of a life.
Faces stare in the words of those left,
Tears laugh loudly within embryos of age.
A personal gladness concealed as you leave,
Gone as the wind dies in a dust storm.
