Twister
a vacuous gunmetal dervish spins
column of swirled perdition
howls like Bedlam let
loose foundations
yanked uprooted–
–stare deep in
its eyeless
last face,
hypnotic
swirls
the
streamers of graphite sky curl down
like monstrous wiry arms
war of the world
deceptive in
appearance
weak;
insanely steady its fickle
course, this berserker balls
voracious with revolving
maw inhales all – up – up
into its lowering black
belly eliminating
debris crash
down &
done
not
so few live to report its tail
who have close gazed upon it–
for its terror drains every
warm-blooded will from a
heart’s center until
paralyzed you
just accept
to be its
next

An impressive poem. Feels uncomfortably close to home.
