ablutions

eyes bigger than stomach

heart bigger than bank

desires spill out of my life

splashing everywhere

i like to visit

a primitive state

where it’s nerves

against fate

i listen to

clocks wind down

and improvise

with what i’ve found

sometimes

I imagine you there

fighting some

same war

and we share

a pregnant moment

unsure

of its sex

and things said

are carved in stone

revisited

in nights alone

becoming a mantra

chanted

that never fails

to break me apart

eyes bigger than stomach

heart bigger than bank

desires spill out of my life

splashing everywhere
