Shipwrecks
Shipwrecks
Refreshing sea spray,
Graces the shores of my stormy seas once more,
The fervent nature of new tides,
Laying shipwrecks, silently to rest,
In loves sediment,
Looking back out there,
Towards that sea of love past,
I still feel traces of other, sunken dreams,
Still know of the joy and heartaches in between,
A thousand tears cried,
Thousands more yet to shed,
Have deepened and will deepen,
That vast seabed,
Out on my horizon,
A new ship, stands proud and stands tall
Above all that went before.
No need for Champagne to christen the helm,
The beauty of a new adventure gold in itself,
Just you and me, on our boat
To nowhere in particular,
But everywhere we want,
For as long as we do,
A couple of mandatory lifejackets
For when tides get rough,
Masts tall and ready to soar,
Across and above all that's been before,
Across rough seas and smooth,
In high tides and new moons,
A new adventure,
To loves uncharted lands,
Not forgetting, yet letting lie
Those shipwrecks underneath,
To all of you who may be shipwrecked,
All at sea,
On lifeboats,
Or just somewhere in between.
Unsinkable ships, built to last a lifetime,
Are, sadly, untimely lost,
But a journey in love,
Is a journey in self,
And adventures in love,
Are worth more than they cost.
