The Other Victims / 2 People
The Other Victims
They may as well have died on the day.
As their life it changed in most every way.
To suffer in silence, the worst type of all.
To try and stand big...when it's ok to fall.
Trying to hide pain, memories to block.
Everyday a challenge, trying to take stock.
Trying to move on, but can only stand still.
Too much time to think, to ponder and kill.
So much anger and hate burning up inside.
Finding nowhere left in this World to hide.
Remember 'the 96' today, as we always do.
But please remember the other victims too.
2 People
Calm looks the Mersey, respectfully still.
Motionless birds, a quiet moment to fill.
2 people stand alone, young in years.
Silent is the moment, measured in tears.
No ships in view, nor sight of sail.
Weather plays its part, no windy trail.
2 people stand alone, a time to reflect.
A time this City will never neglect.
A City all hushed, as candles make flame.
Hands held tightly, it’s always the same.
2 people, 1 jersey, 2 numbers I see.
Only one time of the year this can be.
(Such a sad day....32 years on, it's no less sad. The weather is similar today too. God bless everyone affected by this awful tragedy, I personally dedicate these 2 poems today to two lovely people whose life changed forever that day, in much different circumstances, but sadly with the same tragic outcome, for Steve Kelly and Rachel King)
