Close Harmony
A barbershop quartet
invited to lament
the unalloyed solipsism
symptomatic of a
monochromatic way
of being.
An a cappella rendition
of a pellucid vision,
in which the self
drowns out the rest.
But the harmony is close,
to the point of suffocation,
and the melody of escape
demands a major change
in octave to avoid
a looming decimation.
