Two poetry veterans and comrades linked up on Radio 4 when presenter Roger McGough welcomed his old friend Brian Patten, pictured, to Poetry Please on Sunday 25 July at 4.30pm.

Roger McGough and Brian Patten were two of the three Mersey Poets – the other was the late Adrian Henri -  whose collection The Mersey Sound became a poetry bestseller in the 1960s. On Poetry Please Brian chose poems by writers as various as Charles Bukowski, Bertolt Brecht and Sophie Hannah, and read some of his own work.
