Shifting house!

Finally we are here,

After exhaustive discussion.

After saying goodbye and shedding a tear,

We stand smiling facing our new mission.

The removal van is at the gate,

And helpers get on their toes.

‘Back up into the drive, mate’,

They signal, standing in a row.

The bulky stuff is the first to go in,

Followed by the boxes and bags

‘We need to hurry, looks like rain'

But be careful not to lose the tags!

Shoes will be of no use in the washroom,

Nor books in the pantry cupboard.

Crockery cant be in the bedroom,

It’s a topsy-turvy house, Oh! Lord!!

Now it’s a treasure hunt!

Our memory is the only clue,

Don’t open all boxes, don’t!!

I cant find a thing in this milieu!

It takes about 2 days, backbreaking work,

For the new house to resemble home

The kitchen has got its spoons, knives and forks

And the books have reached the study dome!

The joy of the new house can now be enjoyed,

And doing up the house can start.

Lot of corners and walls are still void

Time to fill in the shopping cart!

The biggest cart is of my dreams and wishes,

Which, somehow, the house is a symbol of.

To go beyond the humdrum and the clichés,

And into the best of me I will morph!
