What ten thousands spoke
A sigh, a song and a lament
For those who here have lost
Those cherished, now gone
Those who never saw the silence
If isolation lift.
Who are they?
Who were they?
Who would they have been?
Tens of thousands left
Each a song a story and a voice
Now ash and memory
If together they could speak
Of injustice faced.
A tragedy of indecision
Awash with criminal conceit
The shame and cry of a nation
Posit themselves at the feet of those guilty
Of inaction rendered.
Where was the money spent?
Where was the response?
Where was the control?
Although their mouths no longer
Cheer, comfort, sing, scream or cry
Those tens of thousands still speak
A stark and ever-present reminder
Of blame due.
