how happy I felt

It started as something fun to do,
but I slowly learned that it was helping me develop.
It was a process
to improve my skillset
of balance and poise and give me something to do.
I didn't know what I could achieve
within such a small timeframe
which began on a Saturday
I bought my shoes
that only just fit
The air smelt fresh
I didn't know what to expect
I started to get better through practice.
If you have ever heard
of the saying, practice makes perfect,
I can officially tell you -
it is true
By the following week
it suddenly dawned  on me that I had improved
I had been going for some time
when something clicked,
I put my toe on the ground
In the correct position
and spun around.
I felt like I had accomplished more than I ever thought possible.
