Gloucester Avenue
Take me down to Gloucester Avenue
Where my journey will begin to beat the blues
A place where I am treated with respect
Where I can chill out relax and reflect
I have a home at Gloucester Avenue
It's a peaceful haven where people really care
There is much work on me that I need to do
I get honesty and dignity beyond compare
The latest news is that it is closing down
A vital lifeline of support for those in need
Who deserve a chance to rebuild their broken lives
With patience understanding and empathy indeed
My heart and pain they were healing with time
My body and soul were no longer on the line
Why are you taking away my nurtering family
They put me on the road to recovery can't you see
Mental Health is always on the national news
Maybe it's just a fashionable urban trend
Funding is always a financial emotive issue
Human touch is all we need to repair and mend
Help and compassion to turn your life around
Supportive acts deeds and words abound
I'm imploring you to give us a reprieve
You will never regret it I firmly believe
Take me back to Gloucester Avenue
To a warm welcome for people like me and you
It's a place where I can grow and come alive
Where my heart and head they will survive
Take me home to Gloucester Avenue
Where I can start my troubled life anew
