I waltzed out my front door this morning
I waltzed out my front door this morning.
My neighbors walked,
or jogged,
But we all smiled,
because everybody smiles,
when you’re waltzing.
A girl in red rubber rain boots,
wide eyed and soaked with wonder
makes the dull, dreary din turn to music.
The traffic is her symphony,
and she is their conductor.
The cars bob & float on the baton
as they pass her by.
The sun warmed meadow is her muse.
And the storm takes with it her simple worries.
She laughs along with rainfall,
while others scurry to escape it’s company.
She’s helping save the world, I thought.
Her little tune.
Light to guide my steps,
down the narrow streets of autumn.
That’s when I fell in love with the air.
And danced with her passed things to be done,
those people to please.
We let them see us smile
and dance.
That they might too.
