Mysterious Drownings | History Today

(for Holden)

The majesty of dogs impresses us –
Their solitary solidarity - the pack.
And above their grey horizons
There is a promise, lingering….

These days an ending is assumed,
That glorifies the story of our lives:
Making children, seeing things, and listening,
Listening, to our hearts’ desires.

Yesterday the sky darkened at noon
Seas spewed forth
Clouds of misery
And all we knew, we soon forgot.

But now a pulse of re-creation
Lends itself to me,
And you, and you,and all that good can do
For this lonely human heart.

Acts of unremembered kindness and of love
Grant us the keys of heaven
And, who knows,  God may grant us time.

A sensitively crafted piece, the final verse gifts us some hope.
The music is great too. Thank you.

I think my life would be better if I had your playlist.
Peace John!

This is truly beautiful, John, portraying both the darkness of existence that can't be denied, as well as sincere hope that redemption remains possible! Thank you 😊 🌷
