From a Collier's Hand

…………………..Rather than spit it out

…………….he writes it down and hands it

………to some Richard Burton type

who doesn’t have the crackle

………of a congested chest

.....................but breath enough

………………….for long sentences

and thus

we hear of days

disguised as nights

on coalfaces and in

hard headings

where silicosis

is the price

of bread.
