Being a parent
Jump in puddles and make a mess
This life is to be lived at its best
Play in the sunshine and dance in the rain
Share in the joy and guide them through pain
We teach them to listen, we teach them to talk
We carry and hold them and teach them to walk
For all the manners we teach them use
We must remember to use them too
We must stop and listen and see through their eyes
The world is confusing and full of suprise
They grow up so fast its gone in a flash
So make the most of the time from a crawl to a dash
Hold them tighter and kiss them more
Read them books and play on the floor
Get covered in paint and mud and food
Always be ready for an unexpected mood
We are adults and don't always know how me feel
Talk them through their emotions show them it's real
We can't be perfect it's no easy task
Some days are easy others we slack
Give yourself a break and just do your best
Love your child and they'll do the rest
