Happy ever after
Hearing my name,
I sprang off the bed,
My new mum had shouted "dinner time".
Running down the dark corridor in this big old house,
I am reminded of the Romanian orphanage where I had lived,
There were no windows, nor light
in those corridors either.
Young then
and small,
The older ones would bully me,
Often forcing me to give up my food to them.
My perfect day
finally arrived,
I was to be adopted,
this was to be my
Happy Ever After,
I was never to be bullied again.
"Good girl Lacey, “
“Afterwards,”
“We'll go for walkies,”
“Good girl."

Good one Russell-suffice to say ( Leon ) been there, done the years-learned a trade-and had my life changed for the better thanks to some very genuinely caring people who I will NEVER EVER forget. Thank you for the care-share poem! 👍
