Bestselling poet Rupi Kaur to tour UK later this year

entry picture

The bestselling poet Rupi Kaur, who rose to worldwide fame via Instagram, has announced her world tour for 2022, which will include performing in 17 cities across the UK and Europe, beginning on 9 September in Edinburgh. Other UK venues will be in Glasgow, Cambridge, Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester, and London. She will be performing new unpublished pieces, poems from her latest book home body, and “greatest hits” from her earlier collections milk and honey and the sun and her flowers.

Rupi Kaur was born in India, and emigrated to Canada at a young age with her family. She began performing poetry in 2009 and rose to prominence on Instagram, eventually becoming one of the most popular "Instapoets".  Her first two collections have sold over 10 million copies and have been translated into over 42 languages. According to her website, Kaur's work "touches on love, loss, trauma, healing, femininity, and migration ... she feels most at home when creating art or performing her poetry on stage".

However, Kaur's poetry has had a mixed critical reception and been subject to frequent parody; she has also been dogged by claims of plagiarism by fellow "Instapoets". More details
