Sarah
She had a sunny disposition
always was a happy child
without a care in the world
running free running wild
spinning round in a whirlwind
her heart pulling the strings
but now she's older the fire is colder the writing's in her soul
tho' she's worldly-wise I see signs of winter
a long cold lonely winter
I see the signs of winter in her eyes
when she was young life stretched out ahead
there'd always be tomorrow she lived for today instead
and lately it seems to me
she was born with a broken heart
let the wind carry my words her way
my thoughts skip over the waves like a stone
if it's not too late and she goes astray
sad sweet Sarah lived too much life in too few years
it's too soon for sorrow it's too late for tears
