A New Day

I open the blinds and I let in the day.
Some traffic below me is on its way.
Shutters of a shop, roll with a groan.
A weary old cat makes its way home.

Yesterday is a memory, one to forget.
I try and put aside, my every regret.
This is a new day, a fresh clean sheet.
I rid my mind of yesterday's defeat.

The sun cracks a smile, a new day born.
The moon goes to bed, with a yawn.
Today is my day, each hour I will tackle.
This day, free myself from every shackle.
