AGNUS DEI
We on this northern isle
Are not given to violent
Demonstrations of grief
more a steady drizzle of sadness.
Buttoned up we may be,
But in straightened
Circumstances, we are not.
We are amply provided
With history. We recollect
Emotion in tranquillity.
We know in our bones
That nothing remains
The same. We press on
Into an uncertain future.
We are rarely divided
Against ourselves.
We have our cousins,
Everywhere, and we breath
The free air of a free people.
