THE LESSON NEVER LEARNED
Flocks of autumn crows
glean the scattered corn
from newly stubbled fields,
greedily they feed
before the onset
of winter's scarcities.
Wise birds these - -
Resourceful - -
Successful - -
Each maintaining it's own personal space,
aware that together - they are safe,
and that sentinels will rise
to ward off dangers from the skies.
Paradoxically we chose to go alone -
Vulnerable - -
Exposed - -
False pride our unconsidered reason
to leave our friends.
We presupposed that we'd be Glorious.
Rule Britannia - -
Never slaves - -
Victorious - -
Now deminished in the global scene
an inconspicuous dot adrift in hostile seas,
No blue print for our future,
Resourceful - -
Successful - -
NO - - - - -
- - - - - NOT US IT SEEMS
