My heart can Lie

Did you see me?

I was there

I waited

For you

I anticipated your

Presence

I wore my finest

Finery

In anticipation

Of your undying

Admiration

I don’t think you saw

Me

You were blinded

By the mist

I tried so hard

To be noticed

I hoped you’d get

My gist

You didn’t see me

You didn’t even

Smell my scent

Still I thought

That you were

Somehow heaven sent

Love is blind

Often unkind

But in my mind

You saw me

For everything

I am

But the truth is

I am the love

That you overlooked

And missed

The gawky nerd

Wearing glasses

The one that no boy

Wants to kiss

So I went home

In all my finery

Into my pillow

I cried

And cried

And cried

Until the day

I saw you

For who you really are

That’s the day

That I realised

That my heart

Can lie.

Feelings are but a guide
Only when your heart is broken
Your true love will come alive.💗
