The Curse of Soulmates
The curse of soulmates sometimes if not always involves a third.
Three people. One two and three.
Two people who were bound to meet, the universes love children, twin flames so on and so forth.
And a Third. The ‘unlucky’ one.
The one who was a steppingstone for the other two souls.
A foreign limb.
This person is more often than not, tossed aside either by accident or on purpose, left to observe without really having a choice.
The role of the ‘Third’ is to simply exist in the soulmates ‘love bubble’.
They don’t participate in it or have any input or control they are just a piece of star dust in the others orbit.
They will occasionally be pulled into their world, given a taste of their freedom only to be thrusted back out again, assigned back to the unlucky role of observer.
They are forever longing to be included or have their own “one of a kind” person but it never feels as natural as the ‘soulmates’.
The Soulmates sadly don’t know the angst they are causing, to be honest they wouldn’t know any better and it’s not their fault.
They are just existing in each other’s universe.
Too busy being wrapped up with each other.
They are a hurricane.
A destructive yet fascinating hurricane.
Third can’t stand the destruction.
Third wishes that the soulmates had never met.
That they’d never cross paths.
But as soon as those thoughts cross Thirds mind, they can’t help but feel regretful.
How selfish is it to wish that upon the soulmates.
To deprive them of these intense feelings.
To deprive them of the inevitable.
The inevitable of being together. As the universe intends.
The cursed existence of the third.
