Imagination

I want to run away with dancing fairies & go on an intriguing adventure,

I want to go to that place where time stands still

& everything happens in one glorious moment,

I want to be free of this flesh that weighs me down

so I can fly high into the sky with the birds

& swim deep into the sea with the fish.

Oh mortal body why do you confine me so?

Oh soul that is my essence when will you carry me away?

It is not death that I seek,

no, not at all,

it is unbridled life,

life that rises in my imagination,

I need only learn to take flight

& I am certain I will soar untethered by gravity,

I will reach the heights & depths of my destiny,

I will find the shining treasure

waiting to be opened by my fluttering hands,

I will arrive at that place of twirling freedom where all of life dances its own creation.

Thanks all for your affirming comments. Greatly appreciated! Okay, let's go have an unbridled day even though we are stuck in these bodies. Lol. That's what I love about poetry...we can fly in our imaginations.

I agree with Stephen ' unbridled life'
free from physical constraints and inhibitions, if only - if only.

I really enjoyed this, Hélène. The notion of seeking 'unbridled life' is inspiring.

On my first reading of this poem I felt like saying "O Helene, I'll fly with you, anything to escape the weight and burdensome life we lead". The line I enjoyed most in this poem was
"Oh soul that is my essence when will you carry me away?"
I think all our souls yearn to be free because they are the power house of who we truly are. Being encased in our mortality somehow seems unnatural. To be really free we need to cast off our mortal bodies and fly
Thank you indeed for this
