Help !!!! Urgently needed for the homeless

"Life on the street is really tough,

It's Christmas 2022 and I'm sleeping rough.

At the end of the tunnel there is no hope or light,

My addiction is taking over, darkenning my plight.

My head is spinning all over the place,

Each night searching for a sleeping space.

Finally I rest my troubled heavy head,

On my uncomfortable cardboard bed.

Last night couldn't get to sleep,

Drugs and alcohol into my body did creep.

My clothes still wet from heavy rain,

In a bus stop I slept near a noisy drain.

I'm on my own completely lost,

Having a bad night bitten by frost.

Sore ,tired ,hungry and weak,

A roof over my head I desperately seek.

I wonder when my life will end,

Encountering trouble round every bend.

Begging, people walk past never give,

Not bothered how long I have to live.

I need help ,hear me shout,

Is there anyone out there to help me out ?

I feel very isolated that no-one cares for me,

Depression ,anxiety and panic,I no longer want to see !!"

The wind out there is strong and cold,
Attacking the homeless both young and old.
Wrapped up in blankets dirty and damp,
The street is their bedroom ,its lights their lamp.

I used to get angry at the sight of the homeless on our streets.

But now they're such a common sight, and to my shame I've become hardened, and avoid eye contact.

Connecting with the homeless can be a difficult task,
"I don't have any change,how else can I help?" ask

It's good to hear kindness says a homeless guy,
Acknowledge the person in some way ,say "hello" or "hi."

Look them in the eye and smile as by them you walk,
"How are you doing ?Would you like to talk "?

I sometimes hand out a yogurt drink,
A kind gift of calcium can build a link.

Offering a wish of good will could be a powerful thing,
And a much needed comfort into that person's day could bring.

Be kind !! 😉

I deal with guys like this ( you? ) on a daily basis-today a big community dinner was put on for them-it went great but if only it could done everyday-some of our guys patrol the streets at night making sure they've got enough blankets etc and give them a hot drink

but when the temps fall to a dangerous level they bring these guys indoors thank god!
