Drift & Swell

entry picture

The grey day has drifted into black night,
puddles of shining water reflect starlight;
I cannot count the stars, each star marking
out a galaxy of planets, and all life-less.
Distance equals speed multiplied by time
Light travels at approx 186,000 miles/sec,
this universe has existed for 13.7 billion years,
+/- a couple of hundred million, one helluva
long time * one helluva fast speed is the distance
we need to escape from G-d. The mind boggles,
cuts out as I walk to the off-licence & buy Glenfiddich
a single malt Scotch whisky. Glenfiddich in Gaelic
means valley of the deer, who ranged far beyond
mathematical calculation, as human life disappeared.

John, the intelligence of this poem warms us like a glass of Glenfiddich!

Glenfiddich-a lovely drop- and the solution to all of life's mysteries-or perhaps that's Jamieson's Irish, my dad's favourite!
