An Ode to Grandmama

My fondest memories were when you would take us to the Saturday market on a cold crisp winter morning. You had this knack for making the most mundane of tasks seem like so much fun. I remember you would always buy tangerines, plums, pears and apples. It was always red apples. You were warm when you needed to be and strict when the situation called for it.

I will never forget when me and dupe stole gizzard from the fridge and we got lashings from Uncle TJ and when I woke up the next morning, you were peering down at me from above and you uttered a single word; Ole! Honestly, I laugh every time I recall this memory. I’m so thankful i was lucky enough to bask in your wonderful aura. I won’t say goodbye but I will simply look forward to when we meet again in the next life.

Your beloved Granddaughter!
