A New Map Of The World
A period of weeks and burgeoning leaves
transmute the whole idea of 'tree'.
Day by day its shadow draws a new map
of the world on the schoolyard wall.
A child has the best view to see it.
Where another child from another year
has scraped away mortar with a lolly stick,
tiny insects are awaiting their time.
Try all ways to stop them. The kids
will strike the wall with footballs
rescued from ditches, and loved.
