Adam
In the beginning there was Adam.
He was a Smith.
Crafting with an invisible hand,
he carved out
the wealth of nations.
You never see a horseshoe
making a blacksmith.
Complex things create
the illusion of design.
Much simpler things
are made.
A market is unknowably complicated.
Nobody can manage it.
Humans have the idea of a market,
but markets make themselves.
Humans had the idea of the internet
but the internet made itself.
Humans are the sowers of seeds.
The tiny contribution
by each of millions,
makes a perfectly
functioning whole.
No individual contributor
is of any consequence.
God is a simple thing.
Easy for man to make.
Grass is complicated.
Rocket science is easy.
Once god was improved
from being a piece
of painted wood,
he didn't work.
Designer god.
Are you beneficent
or omnipotent?
A good and kindly,
feeble wimp,
or mighty,
monster ghoul.
"What are you going to be
when you grow up?"
