Every Little Thing

My beloved

fell into a deep sleep,

a time of stillness

and few words

and slow steps

and ponderous bites

of every morsel,

you see,

he wanted us to see

how precious

is movement

and chatting

and meals

eaten with gusto,

he wanted us

to stop fretting

about all the messiness

and uncertainties,

and to appreciate

every little thing

of every passing day,

his silence

told this story

of attention

and patience

and gratitude

and simple

joy in every little

still and moving

thing.

"There's beauty in little things."
"It's the small things that really matter."

Are the two phrases or quotes that I truly believed and followed. Your poem has just defined it all more descriptively. I absolutely enjoyed reading this, Hélèna.

Thank you.
