I rose this day

and decided to give thanks

for every little thing

that came my way.

Thank you for the water

that runs through my hands,

thank you for the steps 

where my feet land,

thank you for the sky 

that opens wide,

thank you for the leaves

that blow in the wind,

thank you for the chirping tunes

the little birds sing out,

thank you for the deep tones

of those in wide-winged flight.

Thank you for this day

when I rise once again

to work and rest

and play and pray

for every little thing.
