An Aphrodite night
When sadnesses besiege you
with the dying of the light,
and you find your solace in starlight,
time drifts away from mirrors, water, eyes
on this Aphrodite night of no disguise.
When night falls and cats crawl,
my heart is filled with sadness, I fear
starlight does not illuminate sky at all.
We know that all human love must die.
as silently we drift apart,
away from each other’s secret heart.
we bear witness to this goddesses’ long goodbye,
against an azure sky which will remain,
forever locked in heart, in brain
nothing is the same.
Though we can no longer be together,
divine love will live forever,
embraced in hearts that beat as one
swan song.
The stars above, they alone can give us grace,
to be forever young, to be never out of place:
the night will be our shelter
against the false clarity of day,
love will shine forever brighter,
as stars glimmer the night away.
Aphrodite’s light becomes divine.
when loneliness and sadness seep
into day as pretended light fades away.
So drift ye off to peaceful sleep,
beneath this star cluttered sky:
one night can make it right.
