Christmas cancelled in Bethlehem
The biblical birthplace of Jesus resembles a ghost town,
Due to the Israeli-Hamas war, cellibrations have broken down.
Missing! the festive lights and Christmas tree of Manger Square,
As were the thongs of foreign tourists, who were never there.
Bethlehem and Gaza are in a constant state of stress,
And have never been in a state like this before, the city is in a mess.
70 hotels due to a fall in visitors have been forced to close ,
When will all this chaos come to an end,no-one knows ?
This year Bethlehem is quiet sombre and all alone,
The Christmas economy bleeds,in the centre of a war zone.
A ceasefire must be bestowed and all the injustices must end,
Our condolences to over 20,000 killed and 50,000 injured,to their families we send.

Hugh,
A poem which pieces together well the present situation throughout the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. The relentless Israeli onslaught continues with no consideration for the consequences of such violence. It simply suits there ultimate goal to rid Israel of all Palestinians whether they be Christian or Muslim. Christmas means nothing to them so why should they care? A ruthless fascist government is in charge.
Thank you for highlighting this tragedy.
