The New Year Cometh
The held breath of midnight.
The old year solemnly folds.
Heralding blank canvases
Future stories as yet untold.
Fireworks, their colours burst,
In a star-studded velveteen sky,
A celebratory good riddance
Last year finally passes by.
Welcoming, most heartedly
Expectations of this newer year
Counting down the final seconds
In unison, we raise a cheer
Proffering a promise for individual change
Resolutions for ourselves we make
However, very soon, there comes a time
When those resolutions we make, we break
The advent of this newest year
Welcomed with arms outstretched
Desirous that this world may see the light,
Hope and love for all expressed
