Gaza

Gaza

O Gaza you have been raped

plundered and ravaged

whilst a dormant world looks on in impotence.

Your mothers hugged their children

as they fell beneath piles of rubble

to decompose then disappear.

Babies in their final bid for life

lie in incubators amid the strife

only to die when the power is out.

Menfolk dig with their bare hands

amidst concrete and broken shards

to search for those they love and now mourn.

Homes gone in a sudden blast

homes once built to remain steadfast

are now the ruins of the past.

Churches and mosques hold their dead

interred as their souls bled

now in heaven their new home instead.

O Gaza they have scarred your identity

but never will they possess your dignity

for you are a noble and steadfast people

with resilience in perpetuity

You'd think that Israelis, of all people, would realise that the hate, murder and cruelty dished out to Palestinians since 1945 by the IDF and by the settler-fascists would only breed more and more hatred.

"The disaster that befell Israel on the holiday of Simchat Torah is the clear responsibility of one person: Benjamin Netanyahu. The prime minister, who has prided himself on his vast political experience and irreplaceable wisdom in security matters, completely failed to identify the dangers he was consciously leading Israel into when establishing a government of annexation and dispossession, when appointing Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir to key positions, while embracing a foreign policy that openly ignored the existence and rights of Palestinians." https://www.haaretz.com/opinion/editorial/2023-10-08

I absolutely despair for what is happening in Gaza and other conflicts around the world.

Thank you to all who liked and commented on this poem. We see harrowing scenes every day on our TV screens which are very distressing. One can only hope and pray it will soon come to an end.
Thank you again,
Keith

A highly emotional piece dedicated to the innocent children and people who lost their lives and those who are struggling for basic amenities of survival after ethnic cleansing done by oppressors and war addicts.💔
