Neglected Love

I sat quietly on my chair

As you sat quietly over there

We sat there just us two

Listening as the silence grew

Shadows sat so regally

One for you and one for me

Not a whisper could be heard

Not a syllable from any word

Time crept into our solitude

Past the sentinels of our fortitude

Our silence spoken loud and plain

Nothing left for us to gain

So, time crept out quietly

Taking the essence of you and me

Nothing more for silence to say

We left to travel our separate way

This is so heartbreakingly soulful. It stirs feelings of sadness yet sorrowful familiarity. Thank you for your beautiful entry.

Very pictorial, Tim. It reminded me of the Paul Simon song "The Dangling Conversation".

Thanks Manish. Familiar topic with most I think, at least once in their life anyway. 😪

Been there, felt that. And it feels terrible! This poem reminded me of a similar situation that I was in.
Nicely written, Tim, as always.
