FUJITSU
It’s with a gloating satisfaction I see Fujitsu getting dragged ever closer into the Post Office Counters debacle. And this is for entirely personal reasons.
Around 25 years ago I worked as manager of a contract providing outplacement and careers transition advice to its 600 employees made redundant at its semiconductor plant at Newton Aycliffe. It was extremely high profile sitting slap bang in the middle of Prime Minister Tony Blair’s constituency. Indeed it was a privilege for the great man to meet me on a whistle stop visit there. He still cherishes the selfie he took with me.
Part way through the contract (I was self-employed) I was removed for having said or done something to which someone objected. This may not come as a surprise to my worldwide fans or to my long-suffering woke critics. But a fundament of natural justice is that a respondent should know who accuses them and what they are accused of. I got neither.
So it is in a warm glow of revenge, vicariously administered on my behalf by hundreds of PO managers and sub-managers, that I bask today. To that army of “little people” I say “Thankyou for your support. It has been a long hard slog but you got there for me in the end”.
