1000 MILES IN 2024

They said, no!

no, you can’t!

just shut up,

go away;

they said

what they

always say,

too old,

too fat,

waste of space,

a pisspot,

a fantasist,

say voices

in my head.

I've told them,

piss off,

the first step’s

to take one,

so I took one,

I planned,

If you do not

you plan to fail,

so I got all my kit,

warm leggings

and mitts,

got out of bed

at seven am,

went for a walk,

a 3 mile walk,

I’m still here,

tired and hungry;

up yours,

whoever

you bloody well are,

I’m 75,

still kicking arse,

more of the same

tomorrow again!

Thanks all for the comments and encouragement.
Speaking of spirit Stephen, 3 miles in a park on a Sunday is the easy bit; 3 miles yesterday on a road with a pub at the end of it is a different matter; a self-congratulatory house double got to me in quick time yesterday. Stick and carrot eh...but which is which?😉
