'rules are made to follow'

 

I wanted to say

'don't be stupid--

you sound like a child'

 

I watched instead from the corner of my eye

a gaggle of grey-uniformed girls

chase a kid who'd stolen their volleyball

and was now gleefully kicking it down the lawn

 

'rules are made for those who don't have common sense, and often by those who don't have any more than the rest'
