Seshat.

I teetered on the brink of a book

Its fragrant words & structure

sucking me into the hand-stitched binding

Embossed with gold leaf, its cover flaunted itself

Like a literary geisha pandering to my wanton need

I playfully thumbed through a few pages

Its musky allure teasing my nostrils

Suddenly, a voice from another realm spoke:

“Have you got my book in there?”

I nervously shuffled upon my porcelain throne

She wasn't getting it back

We had become as one

“Hurry up!” the voice demanded

I eyed the holder of the roll

One damned sheet

teetering on transparency!

A conundrum it was indeed…

JC and Stephen.
My daughter asked me to order a bikini online for her birthday.
It took me ages to stop the paper copy of the Bravissimo catalogue addressed to me, coming through the letterbox!!

Ahhhh, Steven! This evokes memories of smuggling my mam’s catalogue into the bog for a half hour of “enjoying” the pics of bras and corsets.
Still do.

Yes, John, sometimes the cover is far more enticing than its contents!
I actually did write this on the toilet, as 'the wife' had left one of her fashion books on the cabinet. It was a lovely thing to look at 😃

A story to align with!

I also find myself teetering on the brink of too many books. Buying and reading are two very different pleasures. One is easier and far less time-consuming than the other.
