Innermost Coast
Within you lies a refuge,
Where wild vexations are tamed,
And consolation releases
those happy thoughts, now unchained,
A sanctuary from your chaos
Ocean's haven from life’s storm,
Moored securely port-side
Leeward safe and sheltered warm.
Anxiety takes a back seat
Worries find release.
No scrutiny from others
Your troubles ebb, then cease
This precious self-asylum
Unwelcomed criticism suppressed
Inwardly unreclusive,
Shattered distinctiveness refreshed.
It’s a tranquil place for self-heart-to-hearts
Where lights shine bright for the blind,
With an intrinsic unbounded tolerance,
Self-acceptance, redefined,
Should your world become too heavy
And life's burdens weigh you down,
Kick back, relax, reflect in peace,
Wear a self-empathic crown.
Secured within your intimate thoughts
Feel your worries fade and troubles thin,
Find solitude from life’s fervent pace,
Momentarily, deep down, within
Boisterous seas concern and surround you
Too treacherous to swim
Safely rest on a shaded beach
Briefly, then plunge back in
