THEY FED US LIES
The cruelty of the world we woke up to,
A tapestry of lies and deception.
Hopes bestowed, dreams squashed.
Duped with their sweet words
Our trust we gave them, shuttered they were.
We thought it would be better with them,
Regrets now siege within us.
We thought they were one of us,
Wolves in sheep clothes they really were.
Where is the sweetest of our promised land,
A land where you and me, him and her, they and them
Would enjoy its sweetest of its fruits.
Our diversity then divided us,
Our backgrounds forgotten,
Our dreams now infatuations,
Our now, a re-lived past timeline.
They lied that they will bring change,
"Change" they used to delve and expound their coffers,
"Change" they used to divide us as we fight our own.
