Individualism
Confused brain, drowning in a sea
Of expectations, suffocating me
Individualism, a word so bold
Yet, in practice, it's a story untold
They say be self-reliant, independent too
But what about when I need a hand or two?
I'm expected to be strong, to never bend
But what about when my strength reaches its end?
In business, they say think for yourself
But what about when my ideas are someone else's wealth?
They praise initiative, but what about the fear?
Of failure, rejection, and doubts that appear
Collectivism, a word so kind
But what about when the group leaves me behind?
Compromise for the greater good, they say
But what about when my needs are pushed away?
Individualism vs collectivism, a constant fight
Which way to go, when both seem right?
Look within yourself, they say with a grin
But what about when I need someone to lean in?
I'm torn between two worlds, it's a constant strife
Individualism's pressure, collectivism's life
I'm searching for a balance, a middle ground
But it's hard to find, when both sides wear a frown
So here I'll stay, in this confused brain
Drowning in expectations, struggling to sustain
The weight of individualism, the pull of collectivism too
Trying to find my way, in a world that's not always true.
