To Eat or To Heat - (Version 3 - 2024)
Soliloquy No 33 - To Eat or to Heat – version 3
To eat or to heat. We’re here again. Just different women, different men
who rode into power, drove the Tories out. Your support shouting loud
and clear. Your stories of malfeasance and incompetence ringing in the
electorates’ ears, singing of change. New angels for the red wall.
Your chancellor so much to prove, full of ideas to redress inequalities
inflicted by their predecessors to govern for all and not for the few.
And what does she do?
Something sneaky unforeseen cruel: remove the winter fuel allowance.
What a disavowance of the promise to look after the people! How does
that chime with the relief and acclaim for a new regime? Nothing it seems.
Same old same old.
We told you so shout the outed Tories from opposition benches. The stench
of hypocrisy humbles democracy. And so in no time at all a huge tumble
a drastic fall in poll ratings. Cries of plastic Labour politicians unfit for
ministerial positions. What do they expect? The wrecked economy they
promised to correct, quaking at her proposals making the wrong people
pay for the previous party’s devious ways. These should be the days of
renewal not more decay.
Do something quick, reverse this sick decision for the poor and restore
sanity to your perverse logic.
Well Kier? Can you hear?
