Divisions of Joy

Raw sounds of electrified emotion

Driving an arrow straight at the heart

Of those who listen and observe the motion

of he with deep souled voice

A haunting yet so captivating a beat

Sets the tone again to dance hall feet

That try to emulate the quirky moves

Of a struggling genius in giants shoes

Bass lines throb with treble up high

With beats and rolls from skins on tins

As front man stalks around then sings

In mystic deep and dulcet tones

Gyrations continue to pulsating-rhythms

Serious banter escalates to deep schisms

Between opposing factions whose love of the music creates a cause and a mission

Strobe lights increasing with vivid intensity

He twists and turns almost provocatively

Towards the fans who now seem to expect

The cruel collapse that happens next

Too many times for one so young

Seemed the reason why his body hung

Shadows playing in the motorcade

The night has past as a new dawn fades

Rick’ Varden. (A tribute to Ian Curtis 1956-1980)
